Q-Block: Designing Pixel-art in 3D
23 January 2010
You probably know what are pixel-arts, yes, those images drawn from scratch, pixel by pixel, so good-looking in videogames or animations.
Maybe you’ve never imagined a pixel art in 3D, like any 3D model but with less definition. The “square” pixels we are used to would be “cubes” with three dimensions, and joining up these cubes we would do our image.
If you are creative and want to try something new, now you can do it with Q-Block. It’s a simple page, but it fully functional, you can join up cubes to create a 3D model, and save it with your name in the integred gallery. Once done, you can rotate them, zoom in or out… like any 3D model.
Who knows? You could become the favourite artis of the page, because there is a ranking too. You can also share your creations through social networks as Twitter o Facebook, and there’s an online shop for buying T-shirts with the model you wished.
Whether you want to have some fun or test your creativity, you will have a great time with Q-Block. Do you think that creativity is not your strength? Then you can watch the web gallery, there are many interesting works that you can see from every angle.
See you, I hope you like it as I do.
PS: If you want to see my “art” gallery (I don’t know if it can be called like that), search Selkie as author.
Selkie’s Wallpaper Compilation, Vol. 1
4 January 2010
Hi, readers! As my first article in this blog, I’ll make a compilation of desktop wallpapers that I have in my PC. All of these wallpapers are made by myself, and are licensed with the same license as the blog itself (you can check it at the page footer).
Let’s start with the wallpapers!
These three are very simple ones. Well, there is only one in three versions. Select the color you prefer.
This is simple too, and simulates a water texture with a curved shape in the middle.
Another one very simple, with an arc in the top. Only one version this time.
A refreshing blue spiral that will trap you!
Back again to the water texture, this time with a light shine, which gives some dynamism.
Following the blue backgrounds trend, this has a little border frame and a star in the middle.
One darker with a strange mistic spiral.
Futurist and refreshing at the same time!! One of my favourites.
Red, with dark&lights and some ”scanlines“.
This wallpaper is the last of the Volume 1.
Hope you like them! If you liked them, wait till Volume 2!
P.D: If you have any suggestion for Volume 2 or you want a new version of some wallpaper in this volume (like a color change or with different resolution); leave a comment with your request!
